The Caption Companion is an 8-inch tablet that turns speech into on-screen captions in real time, using AI that runs on the device itself. It works without an account, a subscription, or an internet connection, and it handles 18 languages and dialects offline (81 with internet). A wireless lapel mic comes already paired and picks up speech from about 30 feet away. For the best accuracy, the speaker clips it to their shirt. A custom audio cable lets you caption sound from an outside source, like an FM or loop system. You can add your own words so it handles names and specialized terms better. This suits a Deaf or hard of hearing person in a classroom, meeting, or place of worship. Transcripts delete on their own after 24 hours unless you export them.
